Crocheting in the spring!

Trying to crochet in the spring time is like wearing a winter sweater during the summer! It’s just pure MADNESS I tell yah! I would love to crochet it’s just that it gets so hot when you’re underneath all that yarn! Then again it is the perfect time to start stocking up all your WINTER gifts because you’re the CRAZY YARN LADY. Okay, people don’t literally call me that but I DO feel like I am the crazy crochet/cat lady but minus the cats? I don’t have cats, I have dogs, does that still count? So for this spring some projects that I am THINKING about taking on or making. I’ll let you know as the season progresses or you can keep tabs on me if you’d like! Here are some cute ideas! If you have any you’d like to share that’d be awesome!

How to Easily Crochet a Chunky Infinity Scarf

Chunky Infinity Crochet Cowl

I wish I could show you a wider angle of this scarf/cowl. I searched high and low for a scarf like this when I was in New York. I was literally going to pay anything at that point because I was so cold but I never found it! The scarves weren’t chunky enough or weren’t the right shades. I got so frustrated that when I got home from my trip in New York I just decided to make my own!

Many asked me how I made this scarf but it was really really easy!

How to Easily Crochet a Chunky Infinity Scarf (Cowl)

Materials I used:

– 2 x Red Heart Yarn Yellow
– Crochet Hook Size S

Use double yarn as you crochet loosely SC (Single Crochet) and continue on as wide as you want.
Then SS (Slip Stitch) to the beginning of where you started.
Continue to SC in rounds as thick as you want.

If you think that my tips have been helpful and you’d really like me to continue! Please think about supporting me via donations! Here is my tip jar! Thank you in advance!

How To Feel Like You ARE Good Enough #Life

Well HELLO THERE! I know that you were expecting a beautiful blog post from your beloved Teri from Snarkfest Blog but she allowed me to come over here to play today! Don’t worry she’ll be back right after I’m done! I didn’t hold her hostage or anything! =) I just hope I don’t bore you too much! So I’ve been going through a lot these past few months and I’ve been kinda neglecting my own blog but I thought that maybe this guest post could cheer me up and of course some Teri love! Thank you so much Teri for letting me come by and chat with your followers for a bit! I am so honored you let me come through! I hope I make you proud!

Feeling Like You’re Never Good Enough

It’s just one of those things that I think we all go through. Whether it’s in the work place or at home. I feel that we all struggle with this from time to time. We try and put on this fake facade of how strong we are or how we have a handle on things and we don’t need any help but what we truly don’t realize is that EVERYONE goes through it. So how do I go through my tough times? How to feel like you ARE good enough?! I’m no expert but I am an expert at feeling like a failure!

  1. Do what you do best! What is it that ONE thing that you feel that you excel at? Or better yet if you can’t even think of one ask a loved one and they’ll help you. After you figure it out do MORE of it so that you can feel better about what you’ve accomplished for that day!
  2. Take it one day at a time! Don’t think too far ahead. Just focus on how to make that ONE day better!
  3. Don’t try to do TOO many things at once. You’ll get side tracked and forget what you were trying to accomplish which is to make yourself feel better!
  4. Ask a loved one! They’d be more than willing to give you some love and encouragement!

I love to write about things from life, and relationships to food and maybe sometime as technical as photography. I can’t promise that I’ll make you laugh or cry but I’d love to go through life with yah! If you liked my post, please come visit me over at www.chewylicious.com or on twitter @chewyleecious. Hope to see you around!

Oh where has my motivation gone? via @snarkfestblog #GuestPost

I am truly lucky to be a part of an amazing and wonderful group of women bloggers! I am so thankful for them and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Things they have done large and small. Things that they might not have even known that they’ve done…just by being there. What’s funny is that I sent out a request to them pleading them for a guest post because my blog has been very neglected since the beginning of the holidays. I didn’t think it would but alas I think all the merriment and eating has caused me to become brain dead. Teri responded immediately and asked what I would like the topic to be. I told Teri to write about whatever she wanted and when I received her post it was exactly what I was going through. I think it was meant to be! So here it goes! Please put your hands together and give her some love and make sure when you’re done reading her post and want to get to know her better visit her at SnarkFest Blog.

I’ve been extremely lazy as of late, and have really let my blog go. I made a very ridiculous Merry Christmas post which basically said ‘Merry Christmas’. It’s all I could come up with, so sue me. So when Courtney asked for a guest blog post, I decided that I need to jump back into the blogging arena and I took the bait. I posted a new blog on my Snarkfest page. Then I typed up a blog post for The Epistolarians. Now that my feet are duly wet, I’m jumping in full blast and top down to Chewylicious. Courtney’s been in a bit of a slump just like me, so she knows my pain.

Why have I been so slow to blog? What’s caused my slump? In a word: Holiday. I’ve shopped, I’ve wrapped, I’ve decorated, I’ve cleaned, I’ve baked and for the love of God I’ve eaten. Then there’s the TV. I’ve seen more episodes of The Big Bang Theory, which I’m definitely loving, but I should be blogging. I should be sharing my snark with the world. The world waits on my every snarky word, doesn’t it? Okay probably not, but my mom, my best friend and everyone I’ve paid to follow my blog expects me to post something. Anything. Not just a Peanuts cartoon saying Merry Christmas. Being in a slump sucks. And it’s pretty hard to dig my way out of it. Like losing weight. It’s all about motivation. I need to be properly motivated to get off my ass and start back on the right track (alright, blogging actually requires me to sit ON my ass, but you know what I mean).

Weight loss requires the same motivation. 2 years ago I lost over 60 lbs. I was motivated. I ran. I ran like the wind. I hated running, yet it was working for me so, like Forest Gump, if I was going anywhere, I was running! Between running and watching every calorie that went into my body, 60 lbs. left my body. It was wonderful. It was fantastic. I was in a size 8. And now? Not so much. This past year I didn’t run as often as I should have, I wasn’t careful with what went into my pie hole, and 40 lbs. came back.

So here is my vow. I am getting back on track in the new year. I’m going back to blogging more regularly. I’m going back to MyFitnessPal.com to log and track my caloric intake andI’m running again. Running at least 5 days a week. And even if I don’t, I’m doing a guest blog post. No one here knows me. I can fall back to my old lazy habits and no one will know the difference. Unless you folks can try and keep me honest. Can I count on you??

Crochet Nyan Cat Scarf

Crochet Nyan Cat Scarf I made for a fun Fall Blog Swap I participated in! It was one of my funnest pattern but it was also really difficult. Only because I wanted the eyes, feet, tail and ears to be just perfect.

Here’s the rainbow wave that I created!
Here’s the cat!!

To check out the wonderful model and the recipient of the scarf you can visit her here at Quirky Chrissy! I was so happy that she liked it! Although I think I made it a bit too short…sorry hun…I forget not EVERYONE is as short as me LOL

For the wave pattern I got it here from this amazing blogger known as Attic 24.

As for the cat…um sorry can’t help you there I didn’t keep track of my stitches. Sorry maybe next time!

Crochet Nyan Cat Scarf

Recycled, Upcycled, Repurposed Crochet Scarf turned into a Cowl

Repurposed Scarf

Recycled, Upcycled, Repurposed Crochet Scarf turned into a Cowl. That just basically means I took something old, an old crochet scarf that I had made before with tassels and it was just skinny and long…but apparently the popular style now is to have a “cowl”. Didn’t know what that was for awhile. I just called it the  “circle scarf”. Wish I had taken a picture of it for you before but I didn’t really know if it was going to work.

Doesn’t look bad for the new look …you can hardly tell that I “fixed” it up!

So here’s what I did:

Here’s another scarf I think I’m going to do it to! Take this ugly skinny scarf!

  1. Just embroider stitched the edges so take for example the scarf below: (in between the first set and the second set where I put them a little closer together.
  2. Then just stitch the top and bottom sides together.
  3. And then I’ll be making it thicker so I’ll be adding more rows after that.

Recycled Upcycled Repurposed Crochet Scarf Cowl

It’ll look funny like the picture below BUT you can hardly notice like the FIRST picture!

Recycled Upcycled Repurposed Crochet Scarf Cowl

Hope this will help you REFRESH your closet with a new looking scarf! OR save you some time and money from purchasing a new one!

I didn’t want to have to start from scratch! Let me know if you have any problems!

Please, please comment below! I’d love to hear from you to see if I should continue posting my crazy ideas! =)))

So here’s the FINISHED crochet cowl from the 2nd picture! As you can tell I added some cream into it! I love it! ALSO because THIS scarf was shorter than the previous one I only crocheted together one side.

Fall Festivities

Fall Trees and Foliage in NOVA

I’ve been so busy planning and doing Fall Festivities that I totally forgot that it was ACTUALLY Fall Festivities! My friend reminded me…she follows me on Instagram and been keeping up with all my pictures! She says looks like you’re really enjoying Fall! How could I lie! I LOVED IT! My first trip fall activity was to the visit the Hartland Apple Orchard to pick some apples…I would tell you it was AWESOME but it actually wasn’t. Why? Because we went at the end of the season (WHO KNEW?!). All the apples had fallen off the trees and were now in LARGE bins…yup that’s where I “picked” my apples. Wasn’t too exciting huh? Its okay though I still loved all the apples!

We bought a 1/2 Bushel of Apples which ended up being 28 lbs of apples! I made TWO batches of Homemade Apple Cider, TWO batches of Apple Strudel Muffins, Apple Sauce and Apple Squares. AND STILL I have lots of apples left!

I went to my first Halloween Costume Party in a very long time. It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of snacks and sweets of course! We had one Ghost Rider, Captain America, and Grimes from Walking Dead. It was awesome! So overall I think I’m having a pretty awesome and successful Fall!!! Thanks for asking!

Alright okay it’s not PERFECT but after THREE tries I gave up! LMAO So I’m sure at one time or another you had to have played or at least seen MARIO and I love TOAD so I decided to make a newborn baby toad mushroom hat. I figure since I want a kid but I don’t know the gender of the kid yet I might as well make it neutral for now…I’ve been making too many girly ones!

I found this awesome crochet pattern here, it was GREAT I loved it but my dh said it wasn’t MUSHROOM-Y enough so I had to add a few extra additions. You can find a normal pattern there and if you want to make mine I’ll show you how down below! So go ahead and follow her pattern and give her some love! It’s a lot of hard work writing down a pattern AND then come back here if you want it POOFY like mine!

3 Easy Steps to DIY Pants Tutorial for Boots by @kidinducedcrazy

Pants Tutorial for Boots!

We have an amazing guest post today from Ashley from Sorry Kid, Your Mom Doesn’t Play Well With Others!  She is an amazing and talented writer! I love reading her blog, she is hilarious, a great wife and mother! Make sure to stop by and give her some love.

This is for the outdated wardrobes! For the poor folk who have to shop at Goodwill. This is a way to take some ugly ass 7 year old pants and make them work for today. You know, back when tapered leg jeans were in. After the parachutes but before the skinnies. Yep, those jeans that made us women with the hips taking over the town, look 10 times bigger. Then some genius thought of jeans outside the pants… I love them, it evened out the thigh/hip area. So since my clothing budget is pretty much nil, a pair of old school jeans at Goodwill may be my only chance. Now this isn’t perfect but it works. Tapered jeans in the french roll to put in a pair of boots are painful so I fixed it for ya….

You will need scissors, leg warmers/long socks and tapered leg jeans.

1. First you cut off the hem of the jean
2.Then you can use your long socks or baby legs to hold the jeans in.

Crochet Snoopy, Pencil Case, Slippers, and Pot Holder and WHAT?!

Crochet Snoopy, Pencil Case, Slippers, and Pot Holder and !?!?

Crochet Snoopy Plush

Crochet Pencil Case Holder

Crochet Kimono Slipper

Yes, it’s random I know… but just wanted to show you some previous projects I’ve worked on! Funny…I started this blog so that I could first write down the tips that helped me go through these projects….and then it just turned into something totally different! Funny but amazing! Met some amazing women along the way and this blog has totally changed. It seems this blog has it’s own personality and is growing into something on it’s own with no help from me. =)

This blog is dedicated to all the amazing women, mommy bloggers that I have met. I hope that it will become, in the future, to be a somewhat helpful blog…making your blog better, a place where you can speak your mind, and a place where you can get answers!

The Crochet Snoopy Plush was super easy to follow her pattern. She was awesome.
The Crochet Pencil Case was a bit harder…as you can tell mine was exactly the same.
The Crochet Pot Holder Pattern is here.
The Crochet Kimono Slippers …a baby version of the pattern is here if you can figure out how to make it work for you…I just worked rounds till it looked like it fit me.

Crochet Snoopy, Pencil Case, Slippers, and Pot Holder and WHAT?!

iPhone and iPad #Crochet Covers

Crochet Ipad Cover

I got my inspiration from this fellow blogger, I really appreciated her taking the time to write down the pattern…but I couldn’t really understand her directions so I ended up doing my own way but the main point is to NOT turn your stitch…so I figured I could just work in rounds. If you’re not comfortable working in rounds it might be easier following her directions…I just could NOT get myself to crochet with my left hand or crochet from left to right….

For the edging above on the iPad:

*dc,dc,dc in the same stitch* then repeat from *to* in each st till the end. tie off.

For the my pattern for working in rounds:

  1. chain the width of your phone+4 more stitches. (but it really depends on if you want your phone to be snug or not)
  2. then sl st the last stitch into the first stitch.
  3. sc until all the rounds until you are satisfied with the height of your phone cover. tie off and hide ends.
  4. then to close the bottom all I did was flip it inside out then close the bottom with sc. tie off and hide ends.
If you have any questions you can write below and i’ll try to answer your questions!

#Crochet Washcloths is the new fad! #KitchenCrochet

Crochet Washcloths or Dishcloths

I love my new wash cloths! Love them so much that I still haven’t been able to use them! They were super easy to make and each took me about an hour! Thanks to this amazing blogger for writing out the pattern! Just make sure to use thick cotton yarn…any other type won’t work.

I love all things hand made. Hoping to save up for a sewing machine. My sweet friend gave me a sewing machine but no pedal and I can’t find one for it so the poor thing is just sitting there. I love crocheting did I tell you that already? Thank goodness my husband puts up with me because my YARN and CROCHET products are all over the house….now once I learn how to sew it’s gonna be OVER…over I’m tellin’ yah…

Alright well just wanted to tell you that my house is being over taken by crochet items and I’m so thankful my husband doesn’t mind! =))) Now only when I can figure out how to balance my time to crochet, blog, social media and hubby time! lolol Any ideas on what project I should start on next?

My first #crochet #scarf #pattern =)

As requested!! Sorry if this pattern is horrible it’s the first time that I’m actually writing a pattern ^^ Hope it’s understandable if not please let me know and I’ll try to explain it! Enjoy!

Attach the rose to where you would like it at the end. (I did it at about the 5th set of dc in).
I used an I-Hook and crocheted the rose very loosely. Here’s the pattern for the Crochet Rose.
I used the Lion Brand Homespun Yarn below 320 Regency color.

  • Row 1: 90 stitches
  • Row 2: dc in 3stitch from hook, dc again in same stitch, *skip next 2 stitches then TWO dc in next stitch, chain 2* Repeat from * to * to end of row. Turn and chain 2.
  • Row 3: *2 dc in ch-2* (so 2 dc in between where the 2 chains from the previous row were made). Turn and chain 2.
  • Row 4-7: Repeat Row 3.
  • Row 8: *2 dc in ch-2* Repeat from *to* till about after the 24th set of dc and chain 11-12 stitches and continue again from *to* till end and tie off and hide loose ends. (This part really depends on how snug you want the scarf to fit on you. I tuck in one end into the stitches.)

Kimono Baby Crochet Shoes

THE PATTERN

I. For the sole I just crocheted the normal sole:
Basic Baby Shoe Sole (Original Pattern) Materials Needed:

  • Size F (3.750mm) crochet hook (Newborn)
  • Size G (4.00mm) crochet hook (0-3 months)
  • Size G (4.25mm) crochet hook (3-6 months)
  • Worsted weight yarn in any color

Rnd 1: Ch 12, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7, hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, 5 hdc in end ch. Working down opposite side of starting ch, 2 hdc in next, hdc in next, sc in next 7, 2 sc in next.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first sc of last rnd, sc in next 10 sts, (2 sc in next, sc in next) 3 times, sc in next 9, 2 sc in next, sc in next.
Rnd 3: 2 sc in next, sc in next 11, (2 sc in next, sc in next) twice, (sc in next, 2 sc in next) twice, sc in next 11, 2 sc in next, sc in next, sl st in first sc of rnd, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4: Working in Back Loops only for this rnd, 1 sc in each st around, sl st in first sc.  Fasten off if working another color for the instepIf you are working these all in the same color, move to the next step.

II. For the side of the shoe depending on the size of the shoe/hook. I used a 3.75
35-38 chain, turn
35-38 sc x 5
You’ll get a long rectangular shape and don’t tie off …continue to next part….
III. I used the Embroidery Chain Stitch for one side of the rectangle, don’t tie off attach it directly to the top of the sole of the shoe (where the toes should be) then attach the (side/rectangle) together with the sole of the shoe and then tie off. (It took me awhile to figure this part out…sometimes it’ll overlap…sometimes it won’t. When I crochet most of the time I “wing” it so much I don’t really know exactly how I do certain parts…but this part was the hardest. If you have issues let me know and I’ll try to explain it. I also made an adult version of this shoe as well here. No exact pattern or measurement for it though.
IV. For the flowers/leaves you can do any type of combination there are lots of different types of flowers on the internet. I don’t remember all the patterns/blogs/websites that I used.
Good luck! I hope you like it! If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! Thanks!

If you think that my tips have been helpful and you’d really like me to continue! Please think about supporting me via donations! Here is my tip jar! Thank you in advance!

THE STORY

on my super crazy BABY PHASE….lol yeah…so one of my friends JUST HAD to get pregnant…lol just kidding! I’m REALLY happy for her and her family!

Normally…NORMALLY when my friends have babies, I just get them whatever’s on their registry and run in the OPPOSITE direction…yeah I was scared and terrified AND I had no clue how to play those silly baby/baby shower games…BUT for some reason I decided to actually buckle down and attend my very first BABY SHOWER….I don’t know why but I volunteered to help out and I really didn’t imagine how much work I had to actually put into it. I’m the type of person if I see a need I try to fulfill it. I’m just like that don’t ask why…but anywho…

So I volunteered to handle all the baby shower favors. At first I was going to make these cute little PAPER baby shoes but I was hesitant because 1. they were hard to make 2. people were just going to throw them away anyways. I wanted it to be memorable for my friend and for her friends. So since I loved crocheting I decided hey why not make some REAL baby shoes. There are 50 of them below filled with candy and all with flower embellishments. Yeah no clue how long it took me…just a LONG time…all these baby shoes were taking over my living room lol. But in the end all that mattered was all her friends and family loved it. Each one got to take ONE home, some were trying to take pairs home and dumping out all the candy on the table! It was great! Everyone loved them and will remember her! Mission Accomplished and yup she loved them too!

This story also makes me a bit sad too…only because my husband and I have been moving around our entire lives. We have never settled down in one spot to call home long enough. So if I were even to have a shower I would have no one to plan it…no one to help me with it and really no shower. I guess there are pros and cons to every lifestyle…just kind of sad to realize that although I was very happy moving around with my husband…and getting a chance to live in all these wonderful places I never had the chance to really get to know the women around me and grow with them. Oh well that’s life I suppose.

This is what got me started….

April 2nd

Stopped breast feeding….kinda sad…but I guess now I have to go work out and lose some weight.
Baby is taking her first few steps still trying to get the hang of it. She’s babbling more and figuring things out when I hide things under a pillow she knows it’s under there. She’s growing so fast. I can’t believe she’s almost 1.

April 2nd

9 Months

She passed it with flying colors!
She’s supposed to grab things with her fingers.
Mutter sounds.
Climbing couches, tables, and chairs.

Won’t sit still.

Still planning babies birthday party.
Working on decorations, sewing and stuffing horses heads. Buying paper. Need to edit images and get them printed.
Work on Dohl Towers. Work on finalizing guest list.
Too many things to do so little time since I’m so busy chasing after her.

9 Months

She took her first steps!!!

She took her first steps past couple of days ago and now she’s also climbing the couch. Too bad our couch is so short …we wanted a “modern” looking one now we’re paying for it….and the gates aren’t holding her in anymore we need to think of something different I have no idea what but yeah….

Been busy planning and working on crafts/decor for her birthday party. I know it’s a few months away but I have so much to do …I didn’t want to bother anyone with it so…let’s see hopefully I can finish it all in time. Also trying to work on a few side projects but we’ll see…

Aging WAS my worst nightmare

I was always scared of aging even when I was young. Always buying and using skin cream since I was in my twenties and now that I’m in my thirties I still use it. Although, I shouldn’t be that terrified of it I am and it’s hard not to. I think it’s more the thought of growing old so fast. I just can’t believe that time is passing me by so fast. Maybe that’s the reason for “my last push”. I don’t care who or what thinks of who I am what I am. I’m just going to DO IT. I’m going to just make it happen. I am my last hope. Not to mention I know I have an amazing family who will love me no matter what.

There is nothing that age and time can stop me from me being me. If I want to dress a certain way I will. There is no one that will tell me that I’m too old to do that or this of course within reason but you know what I mean. That is my thought for today! I will not be afraid. I will not be scared to move forward and get my life together finally. I will become who God wanted me to be. I will take it. I will not be afraid for God has created me in HIS own image and I will not falter because HE is beside me.

Time Management

I really need to learn how to manage my time better. Things that I want to do and things that I need to do. I want to blog but I NEED to feed the baby!! HAHAHA No but seriously….now I understand why some people are called super moms because they seem to have the ability to handle a lot of things and do everything at the same time. I need my alone time to think and ponder and sort my thoughts even though they may never get sorted but….

Ok seriously….want to do. I’ll organize my thoughts now…I want to craft and read…just don’t have any time…maybe I could just do it in blocks of 30 min a day. 30 min timer…maybe that’ll help. 30 min crochet/read/blog/breath/relax/tv and geeze seems like i’m going to run out of 30 mins….there is seriously not enough time in a day and I don’t even have time to proofread what I’m writing…I’m trying to cram everything in my head out before baby starts to cry or husband starts calling me.

I need to focus more and not chat as much. I feel like I’m chatting so much my life is getting away with me. Focus. Breath. Focus. Let’s get this together and let me see if it works I’ll get back to you on that but life is so hectic right now. I can’t imagine when I lose baby nap times how am I going to finish any work. I think that was 30 min already. I’ll see you tomorrow hopefully!

Time Management

8 Months

Can you believe it? It’s been 8 months. Time flies. I feel like I’m a broken record but I really do believe time flies so fast. She’s growing so much. Slowly eating more solids now. Eating cauliflower, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, and salmon. She loves salmon doesn’t really like chicken it’s too dry.

She is almost standing now by herself. She is still cruising.

She has 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth and now 1 more top and bottom are growing.

8 Months

7 months and a few days…

She’s growing too fast…and enjoying food too much.
She’s teething and having her first real poops.
Doctor says I have to starve her because I’m giving her too much solids…and she needs more breastmilk. Poor kid.
She’s trying to do too many things. She did stairs the other day and sat in a high chair at the restaurant.

I kinda don’t want her to be so independent of me but I know it’s going to happen sooner or later.
I’m trying to work hard to provide for her but it’s so hard when I’m trying to take care of her too.
Both parents working from home makes things a bit hard.

I need to write things down faster or else I’ll forget them.
I need to write my goals down before I don’t see them.

Baby knows how to play hide and seek.
Baby loves crawling after the dogs and terrorizing them.
Sheesh, I love her.
